Someone Else Can Say It This Time

Sometimes you just can't... you can't talk, you can't write, you can barely think. Sometimes your mind is whirling, your heart is hurting, and your mouth is aching to yell at someone. Sometimes it is better to let someone else try and say things for you. This is just one of those times:

"You'll Be In My Heart"

Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand
Hold it tight

I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always

Why can't they understand
the way we feel
They just don't trust
what they can't explain
I know we're different but,
deep inside us
We're not that different at all

And you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know
We need each other,
to have, to hold
They'll see in time
I know

When destiny calls you
You must be strong
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on,
Now and forever more

Oh, you'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be in my heart, always
Always

Sometimes someone else's decisions, actions, etc. are more difficult to live with than your own. Why? Well, for one thing, you can't control things, you don't have the power. Sometimes you talk till you are blue in the face and realize that all you go out of it was a blue face and wasted time, and no one even listened, it was like talking to a wall. Sometimes you get angry because you have to live with the consequences of other people's actions, their decisions, their choices, and they don't. They can walk away, they can do what they want, and you are one of the people who has to try and convince yourself that everything is okay, even when every fiber of your being says it is not. All is not right and as I said this morning, my fung is not shuing. No, all is not right in my little world, thank you for asking. Did you ask, well no, but I am going to tell myself that you did. Anger and sadness, and confusion and just being thrown into a mess, well that is life sometimes. Ladies, as we all know, these are times when we put on our big girl panties and square up our shoulders and tell the world to bring it on. It already has, we just might have not been ready quite yet.

Thinking of Zachary, our Bubby, and Katie Bug Bug. Miss you kiddos.... Come visit soon! Aunt Nina loves you!

Just An (Out-of-the) Ordinary Day

Sometimes a day arrives, fresh and new, and despite the sunshine coming in through your window, you think it will be mundane, like so many others before it. Upon waking up yesterday, I fully expected it to be one of those days, but I was wrong. You see, I was playing mom, yes mom. Four small children vs. me, and I was fully prepared for them to win. Surprisingly, they didn't, or at least I put up a good fight. Here are some simple highlights:

1. Pacifiers - lost pacifiers = unhappy baby, new pacifier = happy baby
2. "No! We do NOT hit our friends!"
3. Bologna and cheese sandwiches for all
4. "No biting!"
5. Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales, and more Veggie Tales
6. Preschool board games that try to teach listening, sharing and taking turns, but really just try the adult's patience
7. Making a big deal out of someone using the potty
8. Repeat of numbers 2 & 4, again and again and again and...
9. "Share the toys" and "take turns!"
10. Bottles and sippy cups and anything with a straw. Avoiding spillage is key!
11. Snacktime
12. "I wanna sit on your lap." "I wanna sit on your lap, too!" (all said with an undertone of whine)
13. Repeat of number 9...
14. Storybooks and rattles, blocks and trucks
15. Naptime (insert Hallelujah Chorus here)

Now, none of these things seem very exciting and to someone with kids, they are part of regular life. For me, as much as I love kids, they are things I don't deal with every single day, although I can say that I enjoyed the kids and the simplicity that is their little lives. They eat, they play, they use the potty (well, if they make it...), they hug, they sleep. Then, they start this cycle all over again. It was a great day, sticky fingers and all.
